Susan Pyakurel, B.V.Sc. & A.H.
Graduate Research Assistant (Veterinary Epidemiology)
I'm an MSc student at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Calgary, Canada. I currently work under the supervision of Dr. Karin Orsel at the Department of Production Animal Health to understand the etio-pathophysiology underlying foot rot and digital dermatitis in beef cattle.

I am originally from Nepal, a beautiful landlocked country lying on the lap of the great Himalayas. Apart from academics, I love traveling, playing the guitar, and poetry and songwriting!

If you are someone who loves sharing ideas in these facets, feel free to contact me!
Research Interests
I am a veterinarian with an interest to incorporate the dynamics of microbiology, genetics, and epidemiology in infectious diseases concerning humans and animals. The prospect of working in a field that integrates the aspects of the aforementioned subjects intrigues me, and I plan on continuing my academics in the projects that address my related interests. Furthermore, I am highly passionate about the idea of sharing complex scientific ideas in a simplified way so that more people can understand the importance of the studies that are being done and more people would be motivated to be a part of it in their way.

I eventually wish to have a career in infection biology and molecular epidemiology.
