Dr. Juan Jovel and Dr. Ewandson L. Lameu organized a Python workshop for beginners in collaboration with International Microbiome Center, Snyder Institute for Chronic Diseases, and the University of Calgary. They guided us through the basics of Python programming and helped us work with some basic problems. One step at a time!

I took a directed course on molecular epidemiology and evolution this winter (2023). A lot to learn on genome assembly and phylogenetics. We are learning tools such as blast, Geneious, and many more.

I was awarded this year's prestigious Gustav Rosenberger Memorial Award (GMRF) valued at 10000 euros. This was awarded by the GRMF committee and the financial sponsor was Boehringer Ingelheim (BI), a multinational pharmaceutical company in Germany. Though I was sponsored to attend the World Buiatrics Congress in Madrid, Spain, (Sep 4-8) by BI, I couldn't attend it because of visa issues. However, Dr. Tim Nickel from BI visited the University of Calgary and we had a short celebration program along with my supervisor and peers. There was a virtual zoom program for the award distribution which was attended by the delegates from BI and World Association for Buiatrics (WAB). The award is provided to an emerging bovine veterinarian and I was provided this to fund my current graduate research in bovine foot rot and bovine digital dermatitis. We celebrated the program with some coffee, cake, and donuts!
